Playing Pretend To Survive

We are in a relationship and are one by itself, right? This is an expression of it. It's a universe, a project and an illustrated book altogether. Marci and Bonnie are alter egos of each one of us, inspired by Pendleton Ward's characters, Marceline and Princess Bubblegum. It all started as a joke, when we had our engagement party themed by Adventure Time - It's for grown ups, ok -. These characters inspired parts of our personalities and allowed them to come to surface. When we least expected, we were playing pretend in a whole new world where two immortal lovers have plenty of tales and adventures to share. First it became just an expression of our love and relationship. Then the characters started to create new forms and become more and more real. Suddenly the idea of a book of tales started to develop. Inspired by Lewis Carrol's Alice In Wonderland and Alice Through The Looking Glass illustrated edition, and a whole lot of other references, we decided to really make it happen.
